- South County Housing Corporation held a grand opening for Nuevo Amanecer Apartments* in Pajaro, CA.
This complex consists of 63 affordable apartment homes. 26 of these are for farm labor. Another 26 are
financed with Low Income Housing Tax Credits.
- South County Housing Corporation will soon begin work on redeveloping a vacant Cannery in Gilroy, CA.
The Cannery is occupying 12 acres in the core of the historic business district in Gilroy. The revitalization
includes 40,000 feet of commercial offices, a linear urban park, expansion space for Rebekah Children’s Services
and approximately 200 homes.
- Coachella Valley Housing Coalition held a grand opening for the Coyote Run II* development in
September at Palm Springs, CA. Coyote Run II contains 66 two to four bedroom townhome rentals for low-income
families.
- Rural Ulster Preservation Company held a Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Historic Kirkland Hotel*
on August 18, 2006 in Kingston, NY. The building has been vacant since 1983 and once renovated will contain
a historic pub space with a handmade wooden bar on the ground floor, a restaurant with seating for 85
on the first floor, and office space and apartments on the floors above. Government officials, including
U.S. Representative Maurice Hinchey, State Senator William Larkin and City of Kingston Mayor James
Sottile were present at the ground breaking ceremony. Click here for pictures of the event.

- In early August, Tri-County Housing & CDC (TCHCDC) held a grand opening for its satellite office in the
Southeast Colorado Resource Enterprise (SCORE) Center at Otero Junior College. The SCORE Center houses
other economic and business development organizations and is a one-stop shop for are entrepreneurs.

- Champlain Housing Trust’s (CHT) Waterfront Apartments in Burlington is the first
LEED-certified residential building in Vermont. LEED rates overall energy efficiency and
environmental design. The Waterfront Apartments have also received recognition from Efficiency Vermont
for its use of innovations in energy and by the State as a model for public/private cooperation in the
