STRATEGIES & ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Affordable Homes
The Trehab Center (Trehab) develops affordable housing; assists low-income families in becoming first-time homebuyers through homeownership counseling and loan packaging services; makes minor home repairs to reduce energy costs; and provides weatherization services, including insulation and window replacement.

Since 1994, Trehab has helped more than 315 low-income families buy their homes and offered homeownership counseling workshops for 825 families. In 2000, the organization provided weatherization services to 141 families and repaired homes for more than 400 low-income seniors and people with disabilities.

Social Services
Trehab provides comprehensive community services to residents, including case management, emergency food and shelter, outreach and referral, and drug and alcohol treatment. In 2000, it provided emergency food to more than 9,000 people and emergency shelter to 665 people; linked more than 2,000 clients to additional services; helped 1,581 people obtain self-sufficiency; and provided nearly 3,000 hours in drug and alcohol counseling.

Home Services
Trehab provides homemaker services to those in need due to personal, family, or health-related crises. The services range from basic housecleaning to personal care (bathing, feeding, dressing) to offering respite for primary caregivers. In 2000, Trehab provided these services to more than 140 local residents.

Economic Development
Trehab's Assets program promotes social and economic self-sufficiency for local entrepreneurs by providing training, mentoring, and technical support for micro-business development. During 2000, 40 participants graduated from the program, creating 20 small businesses

Workforce Development
Trehab provides workforce development services to former welfare recipients, low-income adults and youths, and dislocated workers. In 2000, Trehab assisted nearly 550 people with employment, training, and placement services.
