STRATEGIES & ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Affordable Homes
The Trehab Center (Trehab) develops affordable housing;
assists low-income families in becoming first-time
homebuyers through homeownership counseling and loan
packaging services; makes minor home repairs to reduce
energy costs; and provides weatherization services,
including insulation and window replacement.
Since
1994, Trehab has helped more than 315 low-income
families buy their homes and offered homeownership
counseling workshops for 825 families. In 2000, the
organization provided weatherization services to 141
families and repaired homes for more than 400 low-income
seniors and people with disabilities.
Social
Services
Trehab provides comprehensive community services to
residents, including case management, emergency food and
shelter, outreach and referral, and drug and alcohol
treatment. In 2000, it provided emergency food to more
than 9,000 people and emergency shelter to 665 people;
linked more than 2,000 clients to additional services;
helped 1,581 people obtain self-sufficiency; and
provided nearly 3,000 hours in drug and alcohol
counseling.

Services
Trehab provides homemaker services to those in need due
to personal, family, or health-related crises. The
services range from basic housecleaning to personal care
(bathing, feeding, dressing) to offering respite for
primary caregivers. In 2000, Trehab provided these
services to more than 140 local residents.
Economic
Development
Trehab's Assets program promotes social and economic
self-sufficiency for local entrepreneurs by providing
training, mentoring, and technical support for
micro-business development. During 2000, 40 participants
graduated from the program, creating 20 small businesses
Workforce
Development
Trehab provides workforce development services to former
welfare recipients, low-income adults and youths, and
dislocated workers. In 2000, Trehab assisted nearly 550
people with employment, training, and placement
services. |
