HISTORY

Siete Logo Siete del Norte was established in 1973 to combat poverty, stimulate economic and human development, and improve the health and well-being of low-income residents of seven north-central New Mexico counties. Siete is governed by a nineteen-member Board of Directors and administered by Amos Atencio, the President since 1977. The organization has a strong relationship with the National Council of La Raza, the National Congress for Community Economic Development, the Local Initiatives Support Corporation and other nationwide coalitions like the U.S. Presbyterian Church. Siete bought a 65-acre property in Embudo, NM and a former health clinic in Mora County from the Presbyterian Church. A subsidiary of Siete, Rio Grande Treatment Program, currently uses both of these properties as treatment centers. Siete is a state-designated Community Housing Development Organization.
