HISTORY

The story of Rural Opportunities Inc., of Pennsylvania (ROI PA) goes back to the early 1960s. It was then that a handful of New York church groups and community-based organizations, which offered a variety of services to migrant farm workers, were organized into one group, Rural Opportunities, Inc. (ROI). This is the parent organization of ROI PA.

In 1985, ROI PA became its own entity. Today, ROI PA is a community development and human service organization, operating 11 types of programs assisting farm workers, other low-income families, and distressed communities. Its programs have evolved along with the needs of its constituency.
