HISTORY


Since 1966, NESDCAP has been assisting low income families and households. Its organizational structure and experienced staff  provide a variety of services in a 17-county service area.

NESDCAP has staff with exceptional background and experience in the field of repair, rehabilitation, home ownership counseling/education, housing loans, housing development, and management/ownership of rental properties of very low-income rural housing to name a few.

NESDCAP started developing affordable homes for speculation.

Beadle and Spink Enterprise Community

$2.95 million grant application to help alleviate poverty; NESDCAP administered until 2000 until BASEC was in a position to administer the program on their own.

USDA Rural Development Housing Preservation Grant

Certificate of Appreciation from Rural Development for outstanding delivery of the Housing Preservation Grant.

South Dakota Housing Development Authority

Major home rehabilitation program in the form of a five year forgivable loan.

Loan Program for Development Corporations

$12,500, 0%, 1 year loans to development corporations for Governor’s House development.

Otter Tail Power Conservation Improvement Program

Energy Saving Measures to income eligible families. NESDCAP continues to receive funding through Otter Tail for emergency services.

Federal Home Loan Bank Affordable Homes Program

NESDCAP received a grant from FHLB in order to promote housing development.  

1997

CD Pledge

Partnership with local lending institutions to provide a 20% guarantee for housing loans.

1997

Individual Development Accounts

Provides $1 for $1 savings account for individuals meeting 125% of the poverty income guidelines to purchase a home, start a business, further education.
