Mercy Housing & Human Development (MHHD) utilizes integrated strategies t
o provide housing, community, and economic development for low-income families of Mississippi. MHHD is defined by the belief that all people achieve their individual rights in relationship to others and achieve their social rights in relationship to the larger community.
In 2005, MHHD was called on to help restore the Mississippi community devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Their first efforts were directed towards assuring the health, safety and financial stability of homeowners. They then began securing grants that would help promote affordable housing. With support and collaboration of partner organizations, MHHD has "adopted" neighborhoods in the cities of Pass
Christian and D'Iberville. Revitalization
plans include
rehabilitating and
rebuilding houses, establishing green spaces, parks and build
ing a community facility.
MHHD was recently featured in articles in Cottage Living and Mississippi Living magazines.
