Impact Seven, Inc. (I-7) was created in 1970 in Almena , Wisconsin by residents who saw a need for an
organization to conduct community economic development activities, attract resources, and implement
projects to benefit Wisconsin citizens, particularly the low-income and otherwise disadvantaged residents.
I-7 operates throughout Wisconsin with a mission to serve the low-income disadvantaged citizenry through
economic development, housing development, housing rehabilitation, community facilities development, property
management, targeted home mortgage lending, employment and training, chemical dependency programs, community
economic development consulting, community organizing and administrative services.
Impact Seven (I-7) was founded in 1970 by citizens
of northwestern Wisconsin concerned
with a depressed economy , unemployment, under employment, the
out-migration of their youth, and the poverty of area residents.
I-7 is a “first wave” CDC – one of the first
in the nation. CDCs are community driven organizations that combine economic
and social programs to raise incomes, create jobs, build affordable housing,
and generate business and economic development in disenfranchised, low-income,
and economically depressed communities.
I-7 defines community development as grassroots driven, local to a specific geography,
tangible and comprehensive - enough to change the way residents see themselves and
others see them. This development requires broad community participation and a
democratic process.
