HISTORY

The Franklin County Community Development Corporation (FCCDC) started in rural western Massachusetts in 1979 after the area was hit hard by the closing of a number of tap and die companies. FCCDC's mission is to support and stimulate the economy, maximizing community control over the county's assets, and expanding opportunities for low- and moderate-income residents.

FCCDC provides a variety of assistance to the 26 towns in its service area, including business consulting and loan financing, entrepreneurial training, a business incubator, real estate development, and community organizing. FCCDC helps local businesses become strong and competitive and keep locally-earned dollars circulating in the Franklin County economy. While its programs have grown over the years to accommodate evolving needs, its focus remains stimulating the economy.
