OVERVIEW OF CDC

CRHDC logoThe mission of Colorado Rural Housing Development Corporation (CRHDC) is to create innovative approaches to provide safe and affordable housing to low-to-moderate income families in Colorado through technical assistance, property development, education, and financing.  Colorado Rural Housing Development Corporation was incorporated 29 years ago by the Colorado Migrant Council to promote affordable housing for migrant, seasonal farm workers.  In these 29 years, CRHDC has grown from a one-county operation into a multifaceted corporation serving approximately 30 counties throughout the state.  Its service area includes southern Colorado and the San Luis Valley, El Paso County and Colorado Springs, resort communities such as Eagle County, Routt County, northern Colorado's Weld and Larimer Counties and the city and County of Denver.  The administrative offices are located in Westminster.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES

Vista Verde TownhousesCRHDC is a national leader in the provision of self-help housing opportunities and has developed over 1,000 homes to date.  To those borrowers unable to commit the labor required for self-help construction, CRHDC offers below market financing, down payment/closing cost assistance and home buyer counseling.   Within the past 5 years, CRHDC has developed 92 affordable rental units, 288 dormitory beds for farmworkers and 94 apartment units for farmworker families.  In addition, the organization weatherized over 700 homes in the San Luis Valley.  The CDC also develops housing for people with special needs, such as the currently managed 24-unit senior complex in Del Norte.  CRHDC provides property management for its own rental properties and offers this service to other owners or developers.

CRHDC also provides a variety of services such as full cycle lending, which includes mortgage loan origination and packaging, and technical assistance to local nonprofit organizations and local governments.
